The Challenge
The clients wanted a contemporary home that felt at home on its rural site — not a suburban house dropped into a field, but something that belonged to the land and the region's agricultural heritage.
Our Approach
We drew from the forms of the working buildings around the site — the barn, the shed, the silo — and abstracted them into a contemporary composition. Metal roofing, board-and-batten siding, and a simple palette of honest materials keep the home grounded.
The Outcome
A house that looks like it has always been there. The clients' neighbors, many of them farmers, have told them it is the finest new home they have seen built in the county.
